‘Female-headed households make less than male counterparts’

AMMAN — The Sisterhood Is Global Institute/Jordan (SIGI/J) on Sunday announced findings indicating that the income of families headed by women is less that those headed by men.

SIGI/J said matriarchal families’ average annual income is approximately JD7,105, while patriarchal families’ average income is higher by JD2,000, at approximately JD9,098, according to Department of Statistics figures for 2013.

In terms of expenses, the data showed that average expenses of matriarchal families in 2013 was JD8,174 compared to JD9,851 for patriarchal families.
