AMMAN — Tourism Minister and Chairman of the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) Nayef Fayez met with representatives of the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) to discuss tourism issues in London.
In a JTB statement, cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, on Thursday, Fayez said that the discussions highlighted the developments related to Jordan's tourism sector, pointing to the importance of the hospitality industry as “a main pillar” of the national economy.
Speaking at the meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the World Travel Market (WTM) in London, Fayez, in the presence of JTB Managing Director Abdul Razzaq Arabiat, highlighted Jordan's vision to improve the tourist movement after the COVID-19 pandemic and the disruption it caused to the tourism sector and its impact on workers in the sector.
Referring to Jordan's tourism components, the minister referred to the procedures and health safety protocols that have been implemented, “which have earned the confidence of British and foreign visitors to the Kingdom's tourist destinations”.
Arabiat underlined the importance of tourism from Britain to Jordan, highlighting the outcomes of the participation in the WTM, which witnessed the announcement of the launch of the JTB's new institutional brand.
The step comes with the aim of enhancing the Kingdom's position on the world tourism map, Arabiat pointed out.
The Kingdom's Ambassador to UK Manar Dabbas affirmed the Jordanian embassy's keenness to contribute "effectively" to promoting the Kingdom's tourism product and attracting additional UK tourists.
Towards the end of the meeting, ABCC's members presented Fayez and Arabiat an honorary shield in appreciation of their efforts in seeking to increase the tourism movement in Jordan.
