AMMAN — Interior Minister Mazen Faraya on Thursday met with US Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Todd D. Robinson and an accompanying delegation over means to boost Jordan-US security cooperation, particularly in combating drugs and exchanging expertise and information.

The meeting also reviewed Jordan's significant role in combating the drug trade, preventing their spread locally and their transit to neighbouring countries, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Faraya highlighted the ongoing nationwide anti-narcotics campaign, noting that the Kingdom's security apparatuses have recently increased their efforts in response to "weak" border security in some neighbouring nations that have become major drug trafficking hubs. Robinson praised Jordan's pivotal role in combating the drug trade and in preventing their transit to neighbouring countries, expressing the US’ readiness to provide various forms of support and cooperation to the Kingdom in the war on drugs.
