Fakhoury receives US, World Bank Group officials

AMMAN — Planning and International Cooperation Minister Imad Fakhoury and CEO of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) Keiko Honda on Sunday discussed means to boost MIGA’s activities in Jordan, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
At the meeting, Fakhoury highlighted the economic challenges the country is dealing with as a result of hosting Syrian refugees.
MIGA is a member of the World Bank Group and works to promote foreign direct investment into developing countries to support economic growth, reduce poverty and improve people’s lives, according to its website.
Also on Sunday, Fakhoury discussed Jordan’s response to the refugee crisis with US Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees and Migration Ann C. Richard, according to a ministry statement.
Richard said the US will continue to support Jordan, commending its efforts in hosting Syrian refugees.
