AMMAN — Planning and International Cooperation Minister Imad Fakhoury on Tuesday met with a US delegation of Christian clerics, including a number of members from US President Donald Trump’s evangelical advisory council.

During the meeting, Fakhoury outlined the economic situation in the Kingdom, especially the financial challenges facing Jordan, including repercussions of the regional crises, and the efforts taken to ensure financial and economic stability, while working to increase the growth of employment rates for Jordanians, according to ministry statement.

The minister thanked the US government and its people for their increasing aid, which contributes to supporting the national reform and development programmes and alleviating the financial burdens resulting from the Syrian crisis and the instability in the region.

For their part, the delegation members praised Jordan’s pivotal role in reform, modernisation and comprehensive development programmes led by His Majesty King Abdullah and the Kingdom’s great humanitarian role towards refugees, which made Jordan a model in the region and the world.

They highlighted Jordan’s role in efforts of achieving stability and peace in the region, combating extremism and terrorism, fostering interfaith dialogue and in enhancing the values of openness, moderation and tolerance.
