Expats’ April remittances increase by 3.2%, reaching $283.5M — CBJ

AMMAN — Jordanian expatriates' remittances increased by 3.2 per cent in April compared with the same month in 2023, amounting to $283.5 million, according to preliminary data issued by the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) on Tuesday.

Remittances from workers abroad increased by 4 per cent during the first third of 2024, reaching $1.1465 billion, compared with a decrease of 2.5 per cent, amounting to $1.103 billion during the same period in 2023, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

CBJ stated that Jordanian expatriates' remittances increased by 1.4 per cent, reaching a total of $3.5 billion in 2023, compared with 2022. The volume of remittances in 2022 amounted to $3.4 billion, according to CBJ.  The data also showed a 2.1 per cent increase in Jordanian expatriates' remittances in December compared with the same month in 2022, reaching $326.1 million.
