AMMAN — Training is a key part of developing employee skills and is crucial towards increasing public and private sector expertise, according to a research.
Enabel, the Belgian development agency in Jordan, concluded a four-day workshop on Thursday titled “Proposal Writing Training” for Vocational Training Corporation (VTC) employees. The workshop aimed to enhance the capacities of VTC’s workforce and further refine their strategic thinking and writing skills.
Anas Al Akhras, a statistical researcher at the VTC, has over seven years of experience in project assessment.
“Training employees is essential for enhancing productivity levels and for capacity building,” said Al-Akhras.
Al-Akhras added that through the workshop he learned how to plan and write winning proposals that would generate more business for the VTC.
Al-Akhras also remarked on the personal benefits that he received from the training, adding that the workshop gave him the opportunity to "further expand and build my career".
“Acquiring work skills helps employees do their jobs more effectively and efficiently,” Akhras said.
Noha Shanableh, the lead trainer of the workshop, said that it is critical for employees to use "the theory of change" when presenting proposals to donors.
“Writing skills are critical for initiating projects, as well as for improving the competencies of the VTC’s workforce,” Shanableh added.
Zaid Al Qaisi, Acting Intervention Manager at Enabel, said that this training stems from Enabel’s main goal: Promoting high-quality, tailor-made training and capacity building workshops targeted at scaling up the expertise the entire workforce, “which will ultimately result in enhanced productivity and competitiveness".
“Raising the competencies of the corporation’s workforce will help the VTC achieve its long term and strategic goals,” Qaisi concluded.
