AMMAN — The electric tariff reduction for productive industries, including agriculture, commerce, industry, health and hotels exceeded JD37 million from April until December of 2022, marking a decrease of 8.5 per cent.
Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) Ziad Saaida said that about 1.503 million electricity metres have been registered to benefit from the subsidised households tariff, out of a total of 1.940 million electricity meters. Saaida said that more than 90 per cent of household electricity bills included in the subsidy did not increase, compared with the old tariff, while some of them witnessed a limited decrease in varying percentages.
