AMMAN — Egypt’s Ambassador to Jordan Tarik Adel on Wednesday said Egyptian exports are safe, high quality and subject to lab testing, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. He thanked the Jordanian authorities for announcing the safety of Egyptian products and “refuting rumours”.
The ambassador noted that the value of Egyptian vegetable exports to Jordan reached $11. 3 million while Egyptian fruit deliveries reached $25.5 million in 2015. In September, the US Centre for Disease Control reported 119 cases of hepatitis A linked to strawberry smoothies consumed at a café chain.
The strawberries used were reportedly imported from Egypt, leading Russia to ban Egyptian fruit and vegetable exports.
