By Petra - May 16,2015 - Last updated at May 16,2015
AMMAN — The Education Ministry has finished preparing a law for the Private Education Accreditation Commission in a bid to regulate and control the quality of education at private schools, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Mohammad Thneibat. During a meeting organised by the Private School Owners Association at the Dead Sea on Friday, Thneibat noted that there is a big difference between investing in private education for the public’s sake and doing so for profit. He also said that only 180 private schools out of 500 in Amman have not violated regulations, noting that violations detected by ministry teams covered building standards, school labs and other facilities. In addition, the number of students at some schools exceeded the figure stipulated in their licences.
