AMMAN — Prime Minister Hani Mulki on Thursday chaired a joint meeting between the ministerial economic team and the Economic Policy Council to follow up on directives by His Majesty King Abdullah to implement a clear programme to stimulate economic growth.

The programme was designed to assist various sectors of the economy, help reach targeted growth rates, create new jobs and automate government procedures to improve the quality of public services, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Mulki said that the economic reform programme adopts effective partnerships with the private sector, adding that reforms should not be limited to taxes and customs.

King Abdullah on Tuesday chaired part of a Cabinet session at the Prime Ministry, where he instructed the government to improve the public administration and complete the electronic government programme by 2020.

The King said that reaching a “paperless government” has become a necessity and that “there was no justification or room for more delay in the matter”.
