AMMAN — Sir Suma Chakrabarti, president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is due to arrive in Amman on Thursday for an official visit to Jordan ahead of his participation in the World Economic Forum (WEF) on the Middle East and North Africa.

Chakrabarti is scheduled to meet with senior officials, the business community and EBRD clients during his two-day visit, according to an EBRD statement.

On Friday, he will take part in a press conference with the co-chairs of the WEF, and also speak at a panel discussion that will assess the investment priorities that are needed to drive forward the country’s economic and social progress, the statement said.

“This visit demonstrates our continued support for Jordan’s economy. I look forward to discussing how we can work together to further deliver real progress in Jordan and the EBRD’s role in particular in boosting the private sector,” the statement quoted Chakrabarti as saying.
