AMMAN — Dar Abu Abdullah (DAA) on Thursday organised an event with the slogan: “The Human Being is Our Most Precious Asset” at Haya Cultural Centre to celebrate its achievements in 2019, commemorating the anniversary of His Majesty the late King Hussein’s birth.
Deputising for HRH Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, Vice Chairman of the DAA Board of Directors Taher Masri said that the late King “left his mark on the world with his efforts and achievements”.
He also noted that DAA was launched following in King Hussein’s footsteps of wisdom, commitment towards Jordanians and leadership, which has helped the Kingdom survive its hardships.
“We can once again overcome the various challenges we face under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah,” Masri said, underscoring that Jordanians should seek reformation in line with preserving security and stability.
Masri also expressed his gratitude to Chairperson of the Board of Directors HRH Princess Haya for her ongoing support.
During the ceremony, DAA Director General Samer Balkar said that the organisation empowered 1,499 Jordanians in 2019 through the three programmes it provides, and is aiming at helping 300 of them to secure employment before the end of the year.
Balkar said that the three programmes, which are: “Let’s Build This Country”, “Ahl Al Azm” and “Insan”, support participants in education, training and health.
Of the total beneficiaries, 386 benefitted from the training and rehabilitation programme “Ahl Al Azm”, 176 from the education and capacity-building programme “Let’s Build This Country”, and 937 from the health programme “Insan”.
At the event, DAA honoured its main supporters, which include the World Food Programme, the Irish Embassy in Jordan, and Zain Jordan, voicing its appreciation for their efforts and support.
During the event, several beneficiaries presented their success stories and expressed their gratitude for DAA’s support in providing them with education, training and work opportunities that “have positively changed their lives”.
At the end of the event, beneficiaries served desserts and coffee to attendees to reflect the skills they learned through DAA’s programmes.
