AMMAN — A delegation of 16 Danish companies and organisations will be visiting Jordan from May 29 –June 2 to enhance commercial ties between Jordan and Denmark with a specific focus on refugees, host communities, and humanitarian solutions.

As ”millions of Syrian refugees live in Jordan and across the region, Danish companies would seek to offer solutions in the fields of water, energy, sanitation, logistics and housing that can create value in refugee camps and host communities,” a statement issued by Denmark embassy in Amman on Sunday.

The delegates, who represent companies, universities and NGOs, seek to learn more about the opportunities available in the Jordanian market, with particular focus on the challenges posed by the refugee burden, said the embassy.

Participating companies represent the sectors of healthcare, IT, water, renewable energy and pump technology. The group includes small- and medium-size firms, as well as larger companies such as Grundfos, Vestas, Buk-Auto and Rockwool, according to the statement, which indicated that the executives are scheduled to meet with Minister of Trade, Industry and Supply Maha Ali, as well as discuss the Jordanian business climate with Director General of the Jordan Chamber of Industry Maher Mahrouq.

Honorary Consul of Denmark Rudain Kawar will link relevant Jordanian companies to the delegation, said the statement.

The visit programme will take the delegation to Mafraq and Zaatari Refugee Camp, as well as a local community centre in Amman.  It will also include meetings and panel debates with relevant UN bodies such as UNHCR and UNICEF, and other actors such as the World Bank, IFC, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Danish Refugee Council and Norwegian Refugee Council.

The delegation will participate in an interactive workshop with NGOs, universities and other stakeholders to discuss ideas of collaborating to find innovative and sustainable solutions for the global refugee segment and host communities, the statement added.
