Customs chief takes part in 137th WCO meeting

AMMAN — Director General of Jordan Customs Abdelmajid Rahamneh participated in the 137th World Customs Organisation Council (WCO) meeting.
The virtual meeting was held between December 10 and December 12. Comprising 183 member states, the meeting was attended by general directors and delegations representing 150 countries, according to a Customs Department statement.
The session focused on a number of issues pertaining to mitigating the impact of COVID-19 through e-trading, facilitating and monitoring traveller movement across borders, checkpoints and customs, and easing the way for shipping and delivering coronavirus vaccines. Rahamneh was recently voted as representative of the organisation in the North Africa, Near and Middle East region and vice-chairperson for the newly elected WCO Chairperson Shaikh Ahmed Al Khalifa from Bahrain, said the statement.
