AMMAN — HRH Crown Prince Hussein on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the Crown Prince Foundation (CPF), during which he was briefed on the strategy, progress in the implementation of current programmes and future action plans, according to a Royal Court statement.

During the meeting, the Crown Prince stressed the need to engage in the initiatives of the institution the largest number possible of Jordanian youth, and use all available resources to raise their competencies and enhance their abilities and creative energies so that they can realise their ambitions and play their active role in the process of constructive development.

During the meeting, His Royal Highness listened to presentations by the executive director of the CPF, Noor Abu Al Ragheb, and a number of programme managers, who outlined the strategic plan of the foundation and plans to expand its present initiatives and launch new initiatives.

Abu Al Ragheb said that the strategic programmes that the CPF is working on are aimed at enhancing leadership abilities and excellence of youth, in addition to enhancing their creative skills, encouraging social and voluntary work and institutionalising all efforts exerted by the foundation.

The briefings also included an update on the latest developments regarding the programmes of Al Hussein Technical University, a CPF initiative, which are designed to prepare the generations to come to excel in technical fields and equip the young workforce with knowledge and technical know how.

The university grants a variety of degrees in the fields of technical engineering and science and technology, with curricula built to meet the needs of the labour market.

The CPF executives also discussed other key initiatives and expansion plans, including the “Haqiq” programme, which aims to strengthen youth leadership, volunteerism and community service by establishing councils in different governorates to support the role of youth leadership and positive change in their communities, and collaborating with schools and universities to reach out to the largest number of young people.

Another is “Masar” initiative, under which young Jordanian scientists are working on manufacturing a mini-satellite to be launched in 2018. Jordan is the first Arab country to empower a team of youth to design a satellite from scratch, according to the foundation. Masar will also provide training and research opportunities in the field of satellite engineering and space mission design.

The meeting also covered the progress in the “FAB Lab” initiative and the construction of a manufacturing laboratory to serve as a regional centre for local and international innovators to exchange expertise and ideas, allowing them access to advanced technology and high-end digital manufacturing techniques.

The manufacturing laboratory will provide services for those who wish to develop their ideas and creations into products through which they will be able to register patents that are economically viable; this will involve young people from all governorates of the Kingdom.

During the meeting, Abu Al Ragheb pointed out the strategic partnerships between the CPF and a number of local and international institutions to support the foundation’s programmes and objectives.
