Crown Prince joins clean-up campaign at Husban Forest

AMMAN — HRH Crown Prince Hussein on Saturday joined young volunteers, in the Husban Forest, who are participating in the national clean-up campaign, launched as part of the Urdon Al Nakhwa initiative.

In its current cycle, the clean-up campaign is targeting touristic and archaeological sites that are part of the Jordan Trail, as well as public parks and areas, according to a Royal Court statement.

The campaign, dubbed “Baladak Beitak” (your country is your home, in Arabic), is implemented as a joint national effort among public and civil society institutions, as well as youth initiatives and commissions around the Kingdom.

During his participation, Crown Prince Hussein highlighted the importance of promoting volunteerism to serve Jordan, calling for support to the tourism sector by ensuring that tourist, archaeological and public sites continue to attract domestic, Arab and foreign tourists, the statement said.

The national clean-up campaign, which is also aimed at promoting an environmentally friendly culture and civic engagement, was launched last month and will continue until the end of the year in Jordan.

The fourth and current cycle of the campaign was launched earlier in the day by Minister of Agriculture and Environment Ibrahim Shahahdeh, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Shahahdeh said that through Baladak Beitak, the Urdon Al Nakhwa initiative seeks to extend its influence to fields of development and the environment, and to translate the values of loyalty and belonging to the Kingdom into reality.

He added that the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment is currently cooperating with the Ministry of Education to launch “Naddif Hayyak” (Clean your neighbourhood, in Arabic) on Monday, a campaign which seeks to contribute to the maintenance of public areas and facilities through the help of youth and students from around the nation. 

Young women and men from all around the nation have participated in the Baladak Beitak campaign, according to Petra.
