AMMAN — The 2023 Creative Industries Forum, titled "Promoting Arab Creativity," kicked off in Amman on Tuesday. Organised by the Beirut-based United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), the event featured the participation of Minister of Culture Haifa Al Najjar and ESCWA Executive Secretary Rola Dashti, among other high-profile guests, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Addressing the two-day forum, Najjar said that the Ministry of Culture is trying to replace the term "creative industries" with "creative cultural industries" in its programmes and initiatives.
The world is moving towards digital and electronic transformation, she said, stressing that culture should be the main driver of education.
She also emphasised the role of Jordanian intellectuals in increasing national income, and pointed out that Islamic Arab civilisation possesses a wealth of elements that make it a strong partner in creative cultural industries worldwide. Dashti highlighted the role of creative industries in economies and digital technology, pointing out that ESCWA is working to establish an Arab platform to showcase young people’s creative endeavours, which will help market their products worldwide.
