CPI increases 3.98% in Q1 2023 — DoS

AMMAN — The Consumer Price Index (CPI), a measure of inflation, went up to 108.26 points in the first three months of 2023 compared with 104.11 in the same period of 2022, an increase of 3.98 per cent, the Department of Statistics (DoS) announced on Tuesday.

In its monthly bulletin, the DoS noted that the fuel and lighting sub-group was responsible for 31.75 per cent of the index increase, rent at 5.17 per cent, transport at 3.24 per cent, yogurt and eggs at 8.73 per cent and healthcare at 6.71 per cent, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

In March, inflation increased by 3.91 points to reach 108.83, compared with 104.73 points recorded in the same month of 2022, DoS figures showed, noting that the fuel and lighting sub-group was responsible for 31.61 per cent of the index increase in March 2023.
