AMMAN — The Public Security Directorate (PSD) has introduced new “strict measures” to protect inmates in correctional and rehabilitation institutions and prevent the spread of COVID-19 by separating inmates tested positive for the virus from others.
In cooperation with the Ministry of Health, the PSD highlighted that a correctional and rehabilitation institution had been equipped to take in inmates who test positive for COVID-19, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Among the new measures, new inmates will be tested within the first 14 days of their admission to the correctional and rehabilitation institutions, and those who test positive for the virus will be transferred to the institution in which COVID-positive inmates stay to receive necessary medical treatment.
Cases have been recorded among inmates, and they were dealt with according to the protocol, PSD added.
