Council announces winners of El Hassan Bin Talal Award

AMMAN — The Higher Council for Science and Technology, on the occasion of HRH Prince Hassan’s birthday on Wednesday announced the winners of the El Hassan Bin Talal Award for Scientific Excellence.

This year, the award was given to vocational and technical educational institutions, according to a statement sent by the council.

The three winners included the Vocational Training Corporation, the Mosaic Art & Restoration Institute and Sahab Secondary Comprehensive School for Girls.

The first award, worth JD7,000, was granted to the Vocational Training Corporation for two of its projects called “TWEED-Promotion of Training to Improve Efficiency in the Water and Energy Sector Project” and “Integrate and Train Persons with Disabilities Professionally for Employment”.

The second award for JD5,000 was given to the Mosaic Art & Restoration institute for a project called “training of Jordanians with special needs and Syrian on mosaic crafts & rehabilitation them for work”.

Lastly, Sahab Secondary Comprehensive School for Girls grabbed the JD3,000 award for their “Development of the School agricultural Environment”, programme, according to the statement.

A total of 22 institutes applied for the award, and the winners will be honoured at a ceremony held under the patronage of Prince Hassan on April 11, the statement said, adding that Prince Hassan is the chairman of the Higher Council for Science and Technology.
