AMMAN — Government Coordinator for Human Rights Basil Tarawneh on Thursday said the government efforts in following up with Jordan’s implementation of its commitments to the Human Rights Council on the Universal Periodic Review of Human Rights (UPR) are “continuous”, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He said that consultations and meetings with stakeholders are ongoing in order to produce a Jordanian national report that suits the Kingdom’s leading role in the field of human rights, citing a meeting scheduled on Sunday regarding Jordan’s UPR report.

The meeting will study the content of the report and the proposed model, and discuss the official and national responses in implementing the recommendations, as well as schedule the report’s first draft.

Tarawneh said there will also be a consultation forum the day after to discuss with the civil society.
