AMMAN —  The global rock band Coldplay has announced that its new album, Everyday Life, will be released on November 22 through two performances in Amman and a live streaming on YouTube.

The band said that it chose Jordan for its “natural beauty, historical and cultural elements, and ability to showcase Middle Eastern flavours and touches that fit with the music and themes of the album”, according to a Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) statement.

“We are very excited to launching our new album in Jordan. We have always felt that Jordan is the right place to hold these two shows,” the band members said.

Tourism Minister Majd Shweikeh commented on the news, saying that it is “an honour” for Jordan, home to Petra and Wadi Rum, to be chosen by Coldplay for its album launch.

Shweikeh added that the Kingdom offers various types of tourism, such as adventure, cultural, historical and religious tourism, which makes it a top destination for international artists in the fields of music, films and festivals.

Director General of the JTB Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat voiced his confidence that this cooperation with the band will “positively reflect” on the national economy as international fans and media outlets come to the Kingdom to attend the album launch.

Band members are Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, Will Champion, Chris Martin and Phil Harvey, according to the Coldplay Facebook page.

Coldplay are a band from London, England. They have released seven albums, with Everyday Life being their eighth.
