AMMAN — A special investigation team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Thursday arrested four foreign nationals who installed a device to steal customers’ data on ATMs.
The Jordan News Agency, Petra, quoted spokesman of the Public Security Department Lt.Col. Amer Sartawi, as saying that a commissioner of a Jordanian bank in the capital filed a complaint a few days ago to the CID, stating that unknown individuals installed an additional device on one of the bank’s ATMs.
A CID technical investigation team detected the device, which is used to steal customers’ credit card data, according to Sartawi.
The investigative team, through technical investigations and information gathering and tracking, identified four suspects of foreign nationality who were located in an apartment in the centre of the capital, Sartawi added.
CID personnel raided the apartment, arrested the four suspects and seized large sums of money in different foreign currencies, laptops, credit cards and ATM equipment, according to Sartawi.
