By Petra - Nov 30,2014 - Last updated at Nov 30,2014

AMMAN — The Cabinet on Sunday listened to progress made in the area of e-government.

During a session chaired by Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, the council called for expediting the implementation of the e-government project in order to unify the data and facilitate procedures for citizens by linking several departments online, such as the income, tenders, customs and licences departments.

Also during the session, the Cabinet examined the long-term transportation strategy that seeks to place Jordan as a regional centre for transportation.

The Cabinet also approved an aviation agreement between the Jordanian and South African governments to replace the existing deal, which was signed in 1995.

The ministers also endorsed the validating reasons for the 2014 housing sector regulatory draft law and the Military Penal Code, and referred them to the Legislation and Opinion Bureau.
