AMMAN — The Cabinet on Wednesday decided to approve an amended draft patent law enabling the public to view submitted patent requests and their legal status, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The amended draft law will prevent the submission of patent requests similar to existing patents, and will enable those seeking to submit patents to conduct legal procedures on the request, including transferring ownership and mortgaging.
The draft law also allows patent applications to be submitted online. Also on Wednesday, the Council of Ministers approved Jordan’s active participation in the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation 2011-2020.
The Cabinet delegated authority to the Royal Botanical Gardens for coordination purposes and to represent Jordan in international events related to the conservation strategy.
