Cabinet approves $3.4m agreement for start-up loans to jobseekers

AMMAN — The Council of Ministers on Wednesday approved a $3.4 million loan agreement with the Development and Employment Fund (DEF) to support the rural economy, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The money will be allocated to the DEF to be distributed as soft loans to jobseekers to establish small- and medium-sized enterprises in the agriculture and tourism sectors.

Jobseekers in Ajloun, Jerash, Mafraq, Madaba and Karak will benefit from the loans in the first phase, DEF Director General Abdullah Freij told Petra, adding that the loans range between JD2,000 and 50,000.
