AMMAN — Tafileh’s Qarqour Dam is now at its full capacity of 35,000 million cubic metres of rainwater. Reaching its full capacity, the Qarqour Dam, in the Busaira district, will provide irrigation water for farmers in the region and supply artificial ponds across the district to encourage the cultivation of protected produce, said Bilal Halhoul, director of the Busaira Agriculture Directorate.
Qarqour Dam was built a few years ago within the Agriculture Ministry’s projects for water harvesting, intended to serve farmers, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Busaira’s accumulative rainfall since the beginning of winter has so far totalled at 186mm of rain while the district’s average amounts to 200mm.
