Blinken to visit Jordan, Egypt, Qatar and Israel to discuss Gaza ceasefire

AMMAN — US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit Jordan, Egypt, Israel and Qatar from June 10-12.

According to a US State Department statement, Blinken will discuss with partners the necessity of reaching a ceasefire agreement that guarantees the release of all hostages. 

He will stress the importance of Hamas accepting the proposal on the table, which is almost identical to the proposal that Hamas supported last month.

Blinken will also discuss how the ceasefire proposal will benefit Israelis and Palestinians and will emphasise that it will alleviate suffering in Gaza, allow for a massive increase in humanitarian aid, and allow Palestinians to return to their neighbourhoods.

It would open the possibility of calm along Israel's northern border, so that displaced Israeli and Lebanese families can return to their homes, and create conditions for greater integration between Israel and its Arab neighbours, strengthening Israel's long-term security and improving stability throughout Israel.

The minister will also stress the need to prevent the conflict from escalating further, and he will attend the Gaza Urgent Humanitarian Response Conference in Jordan.
