AMMAN — The “My work is from My Home” exhibition and bazaar, which was the “first of its kind” and aimed to promote registered and licensed home-based businesses and raise awareness about working from home, was held on December 21st by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply.

Participants of the exhibition said that the event achieved “many positive results” in terms of stimulating home-based businesses and enabled them to market their products and network with commercial entities, according to an Industry Ministry statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The statement said that the exhibition, which was inaugurated by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Tareq Hammouri, aimed to encourage people to establish home-based businesses and take advantage of the new legislative framework that allows the licensing of home-based businesses.

The event included a bazaar in addition to workshops related to registration and licensing procedures presented by representatives of the Ministry of Industry and the Companies Control Department, Petra reported.

The exhibition also aimed to connect participants with major companies and entities, including government agencies, MPs, ministries, malls and military and civil consumer corporations.

The event saw the attendance of more than 1,000 people, including home-based business owners who provide home services, food processing, intellectual services and manual services, Petra reported.

Delegates from the Greater Amman Municipality, the Ministry of Local Administration, and the Jordan Food and Drug Corporation also presented a workshop on licensing procedures, highlighting the processes of packaging, marketing and networking with participants by providing electronic platforms on which to market their products.

According to the statement, the bazaar is the result of intensive efforts to increase awareness of the benefits of home-based businesses (HBB), and to expand the participation of home-based production enterprises in the market.

The event provided a series of technically and financially integrated services that enable women and youth to register their home-based businesses.

The exhibition also witnessed the announcement of the new Home-Based Business Support Programme to provide support to the participants with follow-up from the Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation.

It also focused on finding marketing opportunities for participants through sustainable sales channels.
