Ban on importing monkeys to continue — Agriculture Ministry

AMMAN — The Ministry of Agriculture on Sunday emphasised that it continues to ban monkey imports from all sources, in response to the reported outbreak of monkeypox.
Lawrence Majali, ministry's spokesperson, said that "the decision to ban import of monkeys has been going on for years", stressing that the ministry is following all monkeypox-related updates.
Monkeypox was reported in 12 European countries, Australia, Canada and the US, while no cases were reported in Jordan so far, according to Al Mamlaka TV.
