Bakeries open doors to customers as flour consumption doubles

AMMAN — The Kingdom’s bakeries on Wednesday opened their doors to sell directly to consumers, said Abdelilah Hamwi, head of the association of owners of bakeries and sweet shops. He added that bread will be distributed at small markets which are permitted to be open, noting that delivery services are available as well.
In a statement to the Jordan News Agency, Petra, Hamawi said that bakeries’ flour consumption has reached 3,500 tonnes, double the rate of average consumption, calling on the citizens not to rush to bakeries and urging them to take all necessary precautionary measures.
