AMMAN — The Embassy of Azerbaijan on Wednesday celebrated the centenary of the late Azerbaijani leader, Heydar Aliyev. Eldar Salimov, Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Jordan, in a speech, described Aliyev as “the founder of modern state of Azerbaijan”, noting that he dedicated much of his work to the independence of Azerbaijan and its people, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Salimov emphasised the “great relations” between the two countries, noting that the meeting held between His Majesty the late King Hussein and Heydar Aliyev on December 13, 1994 opened “a new chapter” of bilateral relations. He also noted that the street named after Aliyev in Amman demonstrates the Jordanian government’s appreciation for the late leader.
