AMMAN — The National Council for Family Affairs (NCFA) on Tuesday held a workshop in preparation of the pilot phase of the automation system dealing with procedures to handle domestic violence.
Established with the support and cooperation of UNICEF, the system intends to link all relevant institutions and facilitate the process of referring domestic violence cases to the judiciary, creating a unified file with all relevant authorities along with a documentation of all the measures taken to address the violence.
Secretary General of the NCFA Mohammad Miqdadi, in his opening remarks on Tuesday, said that “the automation project is a national requirement to strengthen the referral system for violence cases”.
The project has also come to improve existing efforts of protection and coordination procedures. All relevant national stakeholders are involved under the supervision of NCFA, he said.
According to Miqdadi, the automation project has been initiated as part of an agreement signed among partners including the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Education, the Public Security Directorate, the NCFA, the Jordan River Foundation, UNICEF and UNHCR.
He also mentioned that the automated system is a reflection of the national framework for family protection from violence, as well as a tool as an internal procedural documentation and the interlocking responsibilities of partners.
Through this project, each and every party would have specific functions and specific competencies, according to a NCFA statement sent to The Jordan Times.
The statement noted that “it will also standardise indicators on violence at the national level”.
