AMMAN – Upon invitation of the Austrian embassy Amman, the Austrian vocal artist Amina Bouroyen and the Jordanian band Osama Mashagbeh Trio held two musical performances last week.

After the first concert at the opening of Musiqa 3Al Daraj Festival on October 1 in Petra-Wadi Musa, the musicians also performed on the closing evening of the 11th edition of the Amman Jazz Festival, according to a statement from the Austrian embassy.

The performance of Bouroyen, an Austrian jazz musician with Moroccan roots, together with the Osama Mashagbeh Trio at the Amman Jazz Festival was “a remarkable example of a successful Austrian-Jordanian cooperation in the music scene”, the statement said.

“The fascinating fusion of sounds and styles, highlighting the diversity and cultural exchange in jazz music, emphasised the importance of collaboration among different countries and cultures to foster a rich and dynamic music scene: Creating beauty out of diversity,” read the statement.

As part of the Austrian participation this year, Bouroyen also held a workshop for a group of vocalists from Jordan on artistic freedom in both modern and traditional song catalogues of jazz singing.
