Attempts to smuggle cigarettes, firecrackers and coffee foiled

AMMAN — The Aqaba Customs Department on Monday said it foiled an attempt to smuggle 1,752 boxes of cigarettes and 475 boxes of firecrackers.

The items were found in containers declared as carrying raw material and glass items. Also on Monday, Wadi Al Yutom customs personnel foiled an attempt to smuggle 31 tonnes of coffee.

The department seized the contraband and referred the cases to the customs prosecutor.
