AMMAN — Police on Wednesday said that they are questioning a father and his sons following an alleged attack against six teachers at a high school in Central Badia earlier in the day.
The incident occurred when a father and his son went to discuss a matter with the teachers at a boys’ high school, Police Spokesperson Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi said.
"The argument became heated and the father and his son engaged in a fight with six teachers," Sartawi told The Jordan Times.
Five of the six teachers were listed in “good” condition, while one teacher was rushed to a nearby hospital for further medical attention, according to a Public Security Department (PSD) statement.
The PSD statement did not reveal the reason behind the argument.
Several media outlets published photos showing a man suffering from a deep cut wound to the head and stating that it was one of the teachers injured during the incident.
The PSD statement added that investigators are currently questioning the suspects "to determine who was involved so that they would refer them to the concerned judicial authorities".
The Teachers Association’s Council (TAC) issued a statement on its official Facebook page condemning the attack.
"The TAC strongly condemns the attack against educationalists and is following up closely with the concerned authorities," the association said in the statement.
