AMMAN — President of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) Nayef Bakhit on Sunday announced an investment opportunity for the private sector to establish an air carrier to operate between Aqaba, Amman and neighbouring Arab countries.
During his meeting with the Parliamentary Economy and Investment Committee, Bakhit said that the air carrier will be fully owned by the private sector with no government involvement, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Bakhit added that the aim of the air carrier is to encourage tourists to visit Aqaba and extend their stay by facilitating access to the city.
He noted that the total number of hotel rooms in Aqaba reached 5,800 rooms, anticipating an increase to 12,000 rooms by 2025.
