AMMAN — Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) teams have dealt with a number of drugs and arms smuggling cases over the past 24 hours in Amman, Balqa and Irbid, leading to several arrests and seizures of narcotics and weapons. The first case involved a raid on the location of three suspected drug dealers in Amman.
The suspects were arrested after resisting arrest, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported citing a Public Security Directorate statement. Forty-two palm-sized sheets of hashish and 3,000 narcotic pills were seized during the raid. In Ramtha, AND personnel arrested two Arab nationals for alleged involvement in illegal firearm trading.
A raid on their location resulted in the seizure of 14 firearms, including an automatic rifle. In Irbid, AND personnel raided an apartment that had allegedly been used to sell and store drugs. Officers arrested five suspected drug dealers, one of them classified as “dangerous”, and found unspecified quantities of narcotics that were intended for sale.
In the third case, AND personnel arrested a man after raiding his house in Balqa, and seized marijuana seedlings that he had allegedly cultivated inside his house. Security personnel also found green marijuana plants and dried saplings in the yard adjacent to the house, according to the PSD.
