AMMAN — Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) personnel have apprehended 352 suspects in 38 cases of drug trafficking and dealing, and 196 cases of drug abuse across the Kingdom since the beginning of the week, the Public Security Department (PSD) said on Wednesday.
AND agents seized “large amounts” of different kinds of narcotics in these cases, according to a PSD statement. In Mafraq, AND personnel traced a suspect who was allegedly trying to smuggle large quantities of narcotic pills outside the country.
Security personnel tracked the suspect and stopped him while he was driving, the PSD said, adding that after searching the vehicle, agents found 120,000 pills.
AND cadres carried out similar campaigns in Amman, Balqa, Aqaba and Irbid, which resulted in the arrest of drug dealers and seizure of narcotics and weapons. All suspects were referred to the State Security Court prosecutor, said the PSD.
