Anti-drugs police arrest suspected smuggler in Aqaba

AMMAN — Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) personnel have arrested a man suspected of attempting to smuggle 385,000 narcotic pills and 345kg of hashish through the Aqaba port, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Saturday.
AND cadres had suspicions about a vehicle bringing animal skin and hides to the Kingdom through the port.
In coordination with the Jordan Customs Department, AND agents isolated the vehicle for close inspection and found narcotics in hidden compartments.
After the inspection, security personnel arrested the driver who confessed to hiding the narcotics inside the vehicle to smuggle them to a neighbouring country.
He was referred to the State Security Court prosecutor, Petra reported.
