Operatives from Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) have handled three cases over the past 48 hours, during which five traffickers were arrested in possession of large quantities of illicit drugs, the PSD spokesperson said.
In the first case, a raid led to the arrest of a suspect in possession of 100 palm-sized sheets of hashish, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Another two suspects were arrested in Mafraq while attempting to sell narcotics, the spokesperson noted, adding a search of secret compartments yielded 22 palm-sized sheets of hashish.
In Amman, two suspects were arrested in possession of a firearm after officers conducted a raid on an apartment that was used as a storage facility for drugs, he said.
A total of 3,000 illicit pills and four palm-sized sheets of hashish were seized in the apartment. The three cases have been referred to the State Security Court, according to the spokesperson.
