AMMAN — The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) conducted two security campaigns in southern Amman and Ajloun to crack down on drug dealers, promoters, and other wanted individuals, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson said on Sunday.

The PSD spokesperson said that the raids resulted in the arrest of six suspects in southern Amman and nine others in northern Ajloun, in addition to seizing various amounts of narcotics and firearms, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The PSD official said that relevant authorities dealt with five "qualitative" drug cases across the Kingdom over the past 48 hours.

In Central Badia, the official said a drug traffickers residence was raided and 29,000 narcotic pills and a firearm were confiscated.

He added that a wanted dealer with 14 warrants was apprehended and authorities seized 2,000 narcotic pills, quantities of synthetic meth, and a firearm in his possession.

In Mafraq, the PSD dealt with two cases, and a dealer with 13,000 narcotic pills was arrested. In a separate raid, another dealer was arrested in possession of 8,000 narcotic pills. In Karak, a promoter was arrested in possession of four palm-sized sheets of hashish, the PSD spokesperson said.
