AMMAN — Jordan is set to host the Droidcon World Conference from January 18 to 20, sponsored by the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB). The event taking place in Amman is organised by Omnes Media and its technical arm, Omnes Technologies, in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and the Digital Skills Association.
Droidcon aims to bring together university students and professionals in the communications and information technology sector to keep pace with the latest technologies and innovations, Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Minister Ahmad Hanandeh said.
Events like Droidcon align with the goals of the Digital Skills Association aiming to provide Jordanian youth with opportunities for knowledge exchange and employment, according to Hanandeh.
Abdelrazzaq Arabiyat, the managing director of JTB said that the ability to access information and communicate in the tourism sector has become essential in today’s fast-paced society.
“The board seeks to enhance its contribution by supporting and sponsoring relevant conferences in tourism, especially those aimed at promoting and marketing the Kingdom,” Arabiyat added.
Droidcon is globally recognised event, held in more than 25 technical centres on five continents, attracting over 25,000 developers and specialists each year, according to Omnes Media CEO Fahad Dwaib.
