AMMAN – The American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan (AmCham-Jordan), in collaboration with King’s Academy, recently held a session titled “Meet the Expert” to discuss the academy’s vision towards providing an extraordinary educational environment.
Founded by His Majesty King Abdullah in 2006, King’s Academy is an independent, co-educational boarding and day school for students in grades 7 to 12 based in Madaba.
At the session, Head of School at King’s Academy Peter B. Nilsson was invited to discuss how AmCham-Jordan members can support the school’s mission, according to an AmCham-Jordan statement.
Over 43 per cent of current King’s Academy students receive financial aid. King’s is one of the few schools in the region to provide such a high percentage of financial aid to its students to ensure talented students from all socio-economic backgrounds have an opportunity to receive a world-class education at King’s, the statement said.
Nilsson said that King’s Academy blends an American style of education rooted in the liberal arts and sciences with Middle Eastern history, traditions, language and cultural values.
King’s students come from over 40 countries around the world, and from almost every governorate in Jordan. Upon graduation, 100 per cent of King’s students matriculate to universities all around the world, the statement said.
According to Nilsson, students at King’s Academy “learn to be independent, creative and responsible thinkers within an ethical community that encourages young men and women of diverse backgrounds and beliefs to excel, to cherish one another and to prepare for leadership”.
