Airport Int’l Group launches foundation to enhance support to local communities

AMMAN — Following years of community support initiatives, Airport International Group has officially launched the Airport International Group Foundation (AIGF) — the executive arm of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities — on Wednesday, at the AIGF Training Centre “Herfati” in Al Jizah. 

AIGF board members, AIG senior management, representatives from ministries, Al Jizah municipality, the local community and Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) and media personnel attended the event, said an AIG statement.

The event also included a presentation by AIGF Director, ZahiaNa’san, and a tour of the Herfati Centre. 

AIGF was founded in 2019 to consolidate the CSR efforts of AIG within three key areas: Youth empowerment, underprivileged community development and environment.

These focus areas are in direct alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) — a universal call to action to end poverty and protect the planet — and are being addressed in cooperation with several public institutions and local NGOs, the statement said.

To oversee AIGF operations, AIG also appointed a Board of Directors chaired by Omar Masri.

“Since 2013, Airport International Group has been committed to its role as a socially responsible and environmentally conscious Jordanian company that gives back to the community. As such, we are incredibly proud to be officially launching AIGF, which seeks to systemise and scale many of the company’s diverse philanthropic CSR efforts,” said AIGF Chairman Omar Masri. 

As investment in human resources has become a Royal and national priority, AIGF centred its efforts during the early phases on youth empowerment, applying an area adoption methodology to advance the social and professional development of youth in Al Jizah, the area in which QAIA is located, the statement said.

Through education and vocational training, AIGF aspires to contribute to lowering unemployment rates in order to prompt economic growth and promote a prosperous future for Jordan, according to the statement.
