AMMAN — The Jordanian “Artery of Life” committee on Monday dispatched medical aid and foodstuff worth JD250,000 to residents of the Gaza Strip.
The consignment, sent by the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO), is scheduled to arrive in the coastal enclave within 48 hours, according to Salman Masaeed, the committee’s health official.
Moreover, the committee has started receiving donations at the Professional Associations Complex in Amman’s Shmeisani neighbourhood and its branches across Jordan to dispatch the “Ansar 6” aid convoy to the strip.
Also on Monday, the Jordan Pharmacists Association donated JD50,000 to purchase medical assistance for people in Gaza.
Association President Ahmad Issa said the syndicate will ensure that the aid is delivered to Gazans as soon as possible through the JHCO or Jordan’s field hospital in Gaza.
He noted that the association has urged the Arab Pharmacists Union to organise donation campaigns and send the aid to the syndicate or the union’s headquarters in Cairo.
Meanwhile, the professional associations will extend the duration of their blood donation campaign for Palestinians in the strip until the end of this week.
Professional Associations Council President Hashem Abu Hassan said the decision was taken due to the high turnout.
The National Blood Bank received 110 blood units for Gaza on Sunday, according to the campaign’s coordinator, Bassem Kiswani.
