AMMAN — Agriculture Minister Khalid Hneifat on Thursday met with Director General of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Bruno Oberle, IUCN Deputy Director General Grethel Aguilar and IUCN Regional Director for West Asia Hani Al Shaer, and stressed the positive outcomes of cooperation between both sides.

Hneifat said that the challenges facing the Kingdom’s agricultural sector, such as climate change, shortages of water resources and the hosting of refugees, require permanent cooperation, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The minister also praised the role of the IUCN in nature preservation, and the partnership approach with the ministry on several projects. Oberle expressed the union’s ongoing cooperation with the ministry on several issues and projects that benefit the conservation of nature in Jordan, stressing the organisation’s keenness to enhance collaboration in plans to combat climate change.
