Agreement signed to develop tourism project at Dead Sea Development Zone

AMMAN — The Jordan Free and Development Zones Group's (JFDZ) on Monday signed an agreement with Mayfair Real Estate Development Company to develop a tourism project at the Dead Sea Development Zone.

The project consists of private chalets, restaurants and playing areas. Each chalet has its own facilities in addition to a private swimming pool. The project will target the “conservative” community in Jordan, according to a brief about the project by the investor. 

“The JFDZ aims to attract tourism projects to the Kingdom, by providing an optimal investment environment for local and foreign investors”, JFDZ Chairman Khalaf Hmeesat said during his welcoming speech.

Hmeesat noted that JFDZ is proud to state that local investors have managed to succeed during the pandemic, and have also helped highlight Jordan as an international trade and tourism trademark. 

“This project will help cut down unemployment in the country by providing 150-250 job opportunities during the initial stage of the project, in addition to over 50 jobs after the opening”, Arwa Hiyari, JFDZ general manager, said during her remarks. 

According to Hiyari, there is an increasing demand from investors to invest at the Dead Sea Development Zone, as it is considered one of the best tourists attractions in the Kingdom, in addition to the investment opportunities that has been facilitated for local and foreign investors who desire to invest in the Kingdom.

“The project is worth over JD5 million. The opening is scheduled for the coming summer”, Motaz Al Sayed, the project investor, said during his speech. 

Sayed encourages local investors to invest their capital in the Kingdom. He noted that investing in Jordan “will bring back huge financial returns” to both investors and local economy.

Sayed noted that this project aims to provide a family-friendly, affordable and modern vacation destination for local residents and tourists.
