ACI's exports see 8% increase in first 9 months of 2021

AMMAN — Exports of the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) in the first nine months of 2021 increased by 8 per cent compared with the same period in 2019, ACI announced on Saturday.
The chamber's industrial exports stood at JD3.692 billion during the January-September period of 2021, compared with JD2.432 billion for the same period in 2019, according to ACI statistical data cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The US, India, Saudi Arabia and Iraq accounted for the biggest share of the ACI's exports during the first nine months of 2021, standing at JD2.163 billion, the chamber said.
ACI's exports to the US increased during the January-September period of 2021 by 62 per cent, making the US the top importer of exports with a value of JD686 million, compared with JD423 million for the same period in 2019.
The chamber's exports to India also increased during the past nine months of 2021 by 25 per cent, standing at some JD652 million, compared with JD522 million for the same period in 2019.
The chamber's exports to the Iraqi market dropped 1 per cent during the first nine months of 2021 to JD396 million, compared with JD402 million for the same period in 2019.
ACI exports to Saudi Arabia during the January-September period of 2021 dropped by 8 per cent to JD429 million, compared with around JD469 million during the same period in 2019.
Exports to Syria during the past nine months of 2021 increased by 21 per cent to JD65 million, compared with JD54 million for the same period in 2019, according to ACI figures.
Exports to other countries — mainly the UAE, Indonesia, Brazil, Algeria, Sudan, Yemen, Libya, Belgium, Malaysia and Spain — increased during the January-September period of 2021.
In its sector distribution of the data, the ACI said that the exports were distributed as follows: Mining at JD957 million, chemicals and cosmetics at JD801 million, medical and pharmaceutical supplies JD447 million, and the engineering, electric and ICT industries at JD415 million.
The value of catering, food, agricultural and livestock industries stood at JD355 million, and leather and textile at JD333 million, packaging, paper, cardboard and office supplies JD160 million, plastic and rubber JD141 million, in addition to wood and furniture industries with JD13 million, the chamber added.
